Confidentiality of matters discussed re ACT.

PB has been in contact by the BAcC who have changed the format of the conference

and we are no longer invited to attend as a group.

PB circulated CPD guide lines to group.

PB sent out the Grandparenting document to the group.

PB circulated research info from ARRC to the group.

PB received only 1 reply from pt 11. standards of education minimum number of points

4. NOS

Request form Erica Traherene. for members of the group to be part of the reference

group and strategy group. PB to email for more details of these groups.

5. Finances update / accounts

PR issued updated accounts to the members. £5099 current balance. PR discussed all

of the expenses incurred to date and the income received from the FIH. Average cost

of each meeting £840 per meeting.

PB updated on the FIH and funding to date. Paperwork sent to the FIH.

6. Web site update

PB has requested most recent documents to be put up on the site. JL asked for

statistics form the web site on hits.

PB has contacted KH and requested new files go up.

PB to check website and ensure all documents are up.

PR to get web details.

7. Educational Standards

The group agreed the educational standards for the group. PB to circulate to the

group.

8. Number of years before a practitioner has to retrain

as discussed 2 years if the practitioner is not practicing in ay format.

9. APEL

PB has circulated APEL document to the group for consideration.

10.Update on BAcC, Herbs and regulation

PB updated the group on the BAcC status in relation to regulation and the fact that

herbs have been advised to join the CNHC by the government.

11.Maggie Dunn, CNHC.

MD introduced herself to the group. Anne Sualtoon, education representative for

CNHC will also be involved in the development of the NOS with Skills For

Health.

No formal relationship between Professional Forums (professional association (PA))

and the CNHC, no funding from the CNHC to them.

Profession specific boards (PSB) within the CNHC are elected by the professional

forums.

3 committees in the CNHC, conduct and performance, finance and professional

standards.

MD detailed the complaints procedures and the role of the CNHC. Due regards would

ensure that a person from the PA sits on the complaints panels where the matter

is of a professional nature. Training is given to panel members.

MD detailed roles of each committee.

Complaints not uphold are destroyed

Complaints upheld but no action is taken, they are kept for 7 years.

Complaints upheld where action is taken the panel can caution the registrant for a

period of time or until behaviour has changed. The panel can put in place a

restriction of practice order, The panel could suspend the registrant from the

register, The final sanction is removal from the register. Re-application to the

register is limited to 5 years. Records are kept for 7 years from the decision.

If a registrants conduct was proven to have not been competent, the CNHC may

caution them and this wold be reflected on the web site, enquiries would reflect

this caution. Once for example there was training to correct this e.g poor record

keeping and the caution would be removed.

12 groups will be resisted by the end of the year.

Profession specific boards

PSB meet 4 times a year.

CNHC ask for 4 nominations for the PSB.

There are 4 professional people (Microsystems acupuncturists) on each PSB.

They become part of the structure and the CNHC pay £150 per day loss of earnings,

and travel costs to the board members.

Selection of the professional members is a decision of the profession.

These PSBs meet with other PSB’s on a rolling basis with the CNHC.

The CNHC meet with the PA (the Microsystems group) 2 times a year, the next

meeting is 25th May.

Professional forums, (councils) currently have a differing numbers of members. GCMT

have 30 odd members, Bowen have 6 -7 people on their forum.

The CNHC registers applicants as CNHC then which discipline is registered under.

12.Areas of specialism, and training and recognition.

PB outlined areas for discussion in relation to expert practice and CPD courses.

Discussion ensued in relation to separation of the register and its format. DL said we

could differentiate on the certificates supplied to the applicants.

JL outlined the banding system for physios. JL to email PB with the outline to circulate.

JL suggested associate, accredited and advanced levels on the register, or basic

intermediate and advanced.

13.Any Other Business

PR informed the group that Margaret Pinnington has passed away. JL to write to

NADA leaving condolences. PB proposed a donation of £50 to NADA or a charity of

her choice.

14.Update on stakeholder groups

MM informed the group that UK oriental medicine has changed the name of the group

to Acupuncture Acu-therapy Council. MM to update PB with new information

MM to contact PB
